THE BEGINNING OF JESUS HOUSE HALIFAX
Jesus House Halifax, the very first parish in Atlantic Canada, had its first service on Sunday, August 12, 2007, in the old dining room of Dalhousie University, 6230 Coburg Road, Halifax. About fifteen persons heard the first message, “Resting in His Promise, and in His Presence,” which ushered RCCG into Atlantic Canada. The second and last service there, “The Turning Point,” was delivered one week later, on Sunday, August 19.

WORSHIP IN HOMES AND FELLOWSHIP GROWTH
Dr. and Mrs. Boboye offered the church their home on Gottingen Street in the interim, from Sunday, September 9 to Sunday, October 28, 2007. Pastors Simeon and Juliet Fagbile were residents of Halifax. They very graciously allowed the first house fellowship to begin in their home in Dartmouth. They also facilitated attendance support for the first service.

SECURING THE FIRST CHURCH FACILITY
Jesus House Halifax secured a small commercial space at 2358 Gottingen Street, and services began there on Sunday, November 4, 2007. This facility space was 500 square feet, and the monthly rent was $500 all-inclusive. The adult auditorium could seat a maximum of thirty persons, while the children’s department room capacity was limited to ten persons.

THE FOUNDING MEMBERS OF THE PARISH
Still in 2007, Pastor Femi Olawale introduced Pastor Gladys Omamofe, to Pastors Gbenga and Bisi Adenuga. Accompanied by their three children, Pastors Gbenga and Bisi came from Moncton, New Brunswick, most Sundays to give support to the struggling new parish. Pastor Gbenga would give the sermon while Pastor Bisi taught in the children’s Sunday school.
2009 – 2011
GROWTH, BREAKTHROUGH, AND EXPANSION TO ROBIE STREET
By 2009, Jesus House Halifax had outgrown its space on Gottingen Street. For about two years, it was challenging getting a suitable facility for the church. At the 2011 convention in Toronto came the word that brought the breakthrough. The general overseer, Pastor E.A. Adeboye, said, “There is a miracle waiting for you at home.” I claimed it. Everything moved unbelievably fast afterwards. God broke all protocols, and we secured the facility at 2760 Robie Street. Fifty congregants moved into the new facility by faith on October 1, 2011. The facility was 2,550 square feet.
2012
LAUNCH OF THE JESUS HOUSE FOOD BANK INITIATIVE
In 2012, the superintendent for the Halifax Regional Police invited us to set up a community food bank in the Gottingen neighbourhood. With his team of officers, they collaborated with us and arranged for the Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) Housing to give us an apartment, rent-free. They painted, provided furniture, and connected us with Feed Nova Scotia. Jesus House Food Bank, an associate member of Feed Nova Scotia, remains one of our thriving Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.

Community Outreach and Evangelism Efforts
In addition, we support daily feeding in our community by collaborating with Hope Cottage. Meals are cooked and served twice daily. We also support Souls Harbour in their own feeding program in another community initiative. Our YAYA members volunteer from time to time at Souls Harbour Mart Thrift Store, supporting their charity work. Annually, we hold Easter Saturday Crusade (since 2018) and July 1st Canada Day Crusade (since 2021) as open-air evangelistic events with live bands and sharing of tracts, bibles, and personal ministrations at Victoria Park, a central park in the city.

Multiple Services and Youth Ministry Expansion
Since 2019/2020, we have been holding three Sunday services: two for adults and children, and a third service later in the afternoon for teenagers and youths in the colleges and universities. This is because of space constraints and the inability to secure a bigger venue. The parish has been seeking to buy its own property. Our youth church, Berean Youths, is going strong. Service is still held every Sunday afternoon. In transit to our permanent place of worship, we currently worship at the Atlantica Hotel at 1980 Robie Street in Halifax.
